The 2013 Frederick Jonach Professional Leadership Award
Using Media to Support Student Leadership
Mr. Frederick “Fritz” Jonach was a devoted educator at Millburn High School who passed
away in May 2011.  Fritz taught United States history, global issues and film & society.  He
was a dedicated and active member of the Kean University Diversity Council and
participated on its Executive Committee, serving as 1st Vice President.  His leadership
consistently brought innovative ideas to the Council, including programs, speakers, and
ways to develop stronger student leaders in and out of school.  Fritz taught by example.  He
was committed to community service and encouraged students to join him to make a
difference in their communities.  Fritz’s ability to integrate multiple types of media
resources and technology into his teaching inspired students and educators to work for
social justice.
